Woman Cries to Government and Police To Save her and her son From Political Assasination.

A woman, Mrs Rufina Akindutire, aged 40 from Ondo town in Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State is calling on the federal government of Nigeria, Ondo State government and Nigerian Police Force to help save her life and that of his 8 years old son, Nicholas Tirenioluwa Akindutire from political assassins who after their lives.

The woman made this plea as a result of the recent killing of her husband, Segun Akindutire by unknown gunmen suspected to be political assassins.

It was gathered that the, late husband of Mrs Rufina, Mr Segun Akindutire who was a vocal political activist in Ondo community was brutally murdered in June for political reason, when coming from an outing.

According to investigation, Segun Akindutire was said to be a very charismatic political personality who wielded a huge influence in the community, especially among the youth with the largest voting population. He was said to be the youth leader in the community before his tragical death

According to report, Segun Akindutire was opposed to the wish of some powerful political cabal in the community who had collectively adopted a particularly political governorship aspirant from the southern senatorial part of the state as their choice, and so wanted to foist the said aspirant on the community as a consensus candidate whom all the community must vote for in the coming governorship election in the state.

It was gathered however that Segun Akindutire stood against this plan, describing it as undemocratic.

According to Mrs Rufina, her husband was routing for a governorship candidate from the northern part of the state as against the southern candidate that the powerful political cabal was advocating for, with the argument that, since the outgoing governor is from the southern senatorial district, the next governor should come from the northern senatorial part in the spirit of justice, fairness and equity. She said the stand of her husband however, did not go down well with the cabal.

“My husband was murdered in cold blood by some powerful political cabal because of his stand that, in the spirit of fairness, equity and justice, that governorship aspirant from the southern senatorial district should not be put forward to succeed the outgoing governor who is from the same district. But, that a candidate from the northern part should be favoured to be the successor”, Mrs Rufina said.

Buttressing this claim, a source who preferred to be anonymous because of the sensitivity of the case, said that, Segun Akindutire was vehement about his campaign against the political decision of the said cabal, and due to his popularity and influence, he had succeeded in convincing the community against it.

So sensing that, they were losing out on their plan because of Akindutire’s vehement opposition, the cabal decided to sponsor assassination against him to silence and terminate his life being their principal political enemy, and consequently make their political plan to sail through.

Akindutire who was unaware of this plan, according to the source, on the fateful day, was ambushed and murdered in cold blood by suspected political hired assassin while coming from an outing in company of his family, comprising his wife, Rufina and son. However, the wife was able to narrowly escape with the son from the scenes of the attack.

The wife said that, what gave the suspicion that the death of her husband was politically motivated was that, after the attack, the second day in the evening, some political thugs invaded their house with dangerous weapons to look for her with a view to assassinate her and son so that nobody would be able to pursue a murder case against the cabal to avenge her husband’s death. But she said, fortunately for her, the thugs did not meet her and her son at home as she had immediately left to her parents house after tragic occurrence where she was mourning the death of her husband.

Rufina however revealed that, she got to know about the visit of the political thugs to their house from their neighbors who were around and saw the hired assassins.

Rufina who has since be in hiding because of the fear of assassination attack, said her life and that of her son are in danger and now calling on the government and law enforcement agents to save them.
